A ..,igniticant property of the theory is that it admits the representation of imprecise inform.’~tion at all stages. The strategies are evaluated relative to generalisations of the p,’inciple of maxiraising the expected utility. It is also demonstrated how decision trees can he integrated into the framework :me we sugge,~t :m evaluation rule taking int¢~ act’~unt all strategies. credibilities, reliabilities, probabilities and utilitie.~ involved in the framework. Decentralisation of Health Services in Fiji: A Decision Space Analysis

Background Decentralisation aims to bring services closer to the community and has been advocated in the health sector to improve quality, access and equity, and to empower local agencies, increase innovation and efficiency and bring healthcare and decision-making as close as possible to where people live and work. Fiji has attempted two approaches to decentralisation. The current approach refl...

A Design Pattern for Decentralised Decision Making

The engineering of large-scale decentralised systems requires sound methodologies to guarantee the attainment of the desired macroscopic system-level behaviour given the microscopic individual-level implementation. While a general-purpose methodology is currently out of reach, specific solutions can be given to broad classes of problems by means of well-conceived design patterns. We propose a d...

A flexible modelling environment for integrated urban water harvesting and re-use.

The steady increase of urban population and the possible effects of climate change that may adversely affect the amount of water available in current water supply systems, makes the study of stormwater and rainwater harvesting and wastewater recycling a high priority. The basic proposition is that any system of water supply that can reduce the amount of water drawn from main reservoirs will be ...

Group Decision Making for Hazard Analysis and Consequence Modelling Software Selection with AHP

Software evaluation and selection have begun to be addressed as a topic title along with the fact that microcomputers and then personal computers have become widespread and have been used in the operations of businesses. In this study, it was focused on the selection of software for identifying the physical effect distances of the explosion, fire, and toxic emission, which is an impo...

Modelling and Decision-making on Deteriorating Production Systems using Stochastic Dynamic Programming Approach

This study aimed at presenting a method for formulating optimal production, repair and replacement policies. The system was based on the production rate of defective parts and machine repairs and then was set up to optimize maintenance activities and related costs. The machine is either repaired or replaced. The machine is changed completely in the replacement process, but the productio...

Decentralisation and Health Services Delivery in 4 Districts in Tanzania: How and Why Does the Use of Decision Space Vary Across Districts?

Background Decentralisation in the health sector has been promoted in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) for many years. Inherently, decentralisation grants decision-making space to local level authorities over different functions such as: finance, human resources, service organization, and governance. However, there is paucity of studies which have assessed the actual use of decisi...
